I was informed about the importance of these Interactions, because they are often prescribed drugs together in migraine patients. acute myeloid leukemia Maxalt-Propranolol During concomitant administration of both drugs, propranolol greatly increases concentrations of Maxalt (rizatriptan). The study was done with 11 healthy volunteers who received 240mg of propranolol id. Upon administration of a single dose of 10mg rizatriptan, rizatriptan concentration was increased by 70%. In one patient, there was an increase of four times the concentration. Even at lower doses of propranolol, 60 mg bid, there is an increase of more than 65% of the concentration of rizatriptan. Space the doses has no effect on the pharmacokinetics. Other beta-blockers (metoprolol, nadolol) are not increasing concentrations of rizatriptan. In addition, the propranolol is no increase in concentrations acute myeloid leukemia Imitrex (sumatriptan). What is suggested: Patients receiving propranolol in migraine prophylaxis should not receive more than 15 mg per 24 hours. Therefore, the preferred acute myeloid leukemia dose of 5mg compared to 10mg (for impossible to repeat the dose of 10mg!). Normally, the maximum dose of rizatriptan is 20mg per 24 hours. Zomig-Propranolol During concomitant administration of these drugs, there is an increase in the concentration of Zomig 50%. For cons, the concentration of the active metabolite acute myeloid leukemia decreased 15%. No additional effect on the pressure or on the pulse were observed (adverse effects of zolmitriptan). Doses used: 160mg of propranolol and 10mg of zolmitriptan. Therefore it is believed that this interaction is not clinically significant. There were no more reported adverse reactions in patients taking propranolol in addition to their Zomig. But patients can still raise to monitor the occurrence of adverse effects of Zomig: nausea, dizziness, tightness in the chest, paresthesia. Formerly published in The Eye of Horus
